FNMC FLUTE ARTIST COMPETITION

The second Flute New Music Consortium Flute Artist Competition seeks to recognize and encourage high standards of flute playing in contemporary performance. Contestants will submit entries to the recorded round by October 15, 2019, 11:59pm CST for consideration. Up to four finalists will be invited to the final round of the competition, which will take place at FNMC New Music Festival at SUNY Stony Brook featuring Valerie Coleman on January 17, 2020. The final round repertoire will also feature the premiere of a newly commissioned work for solo flute by Paul Richards. A cash prize of $500 will be awarded to the winner, who will also perform Richards’ solo on a recital featuring Carol Wincenc performing the premiere of the Coleman Commission piece. This competition is open to FNMC members of all ages. Looking for an additional performance/competition opportunity? Check out the Stony Brook University Flute Studio's Master Class Competition for a chance to perform for Carol Wincenc!
