fnmc recording project
Call for applications
FNMC is seeking members to contribute recordings for an album of works drawn from the last five years of its commissions and composition competition (2016-2020).
APPLICATION REQUIREMENTS
Applicants must be commissioning members of FNMC and have participated in at least two (2) commissioning cycles. These need not be consecutive (ex. commissioning member for Zhou and Coleman commissions but not on Pann and Zyman).
Applicants will submit an audio recording of the work they wish to record for the album project. The performance may be a live or studio recording from within the last three years. The recordings will be screened blind, so there should be no identifying information in the recording. A curated list of eligible works can be found HERE.
Applicants will select a second and third choice work from the list that they would be willing to record in the event they are chosen for the project but not chosen to record their first choice.
DEADLINES & DETAILS
Applications are due May 1, 2021. Selected applicants will be notified by May 31, 2021, of their acceptance to the project and will have until June 1, 2022, to complete their recording. Selected applicants may choose to record at a studio near their home or at a studio selected by FNMC.
A modest stipend, with the intent to cover recording costs, will be provided - details will be discussed in final recording agreement.
The completed recordings will become the property of FNMC and any revenue from recording sales will be used to further FNMC’s mission.
